This stunning ceramic bowl showcases a colorful pattern centering on a potted peony that symbolizes abundance. These patterns bowl also has scalloped edges. These patterns are hand painted and the style is known as Imari ware, traditional to Japan. The name Imari comes from the port of Imari, from which this porcelain was shipped to the West starting in the 17th century. This piece dates back the mid-19th century during the Meiji period when these exports reached their peak.
